FREE Internet Marketing Information? What, in the world are you talking about Craig? Now days it seems every guru, person and their dog is trying to sell you something, in every blog post, contact and e-mail.
At one stage I was subscribed to about 100 marketers and internet marketers e-mail lists. I got tired of pressing the delete button on outlook. Sure there is nothing wrong with selling stuff and making a profit, but when you get bombarded with just buy this, buy that, it gets a bit old. So my advice is, just opt out of every list that doesn’t give a few golden gems now and then. It will save you lots of time as well.
Anyway, back to the free marketing info, here are some great internet marketers that give away some good information and it won’t cost you a cent. Sure, you still get some sales pitches and that’s okay, but they deliver some good content as well.
Jeff Johnson has some valuable internet marketing videos, worth watching.
Mark Ling, Jennifer (Pot Pie Girl) and Gauher Chaudhry have some good content. (It’s worth having a look at Mark Ling’s keyword tool, Traffic Travis, and it’s free)
Howie Schwartz is an extremely aggressive marketer who gives you loads of pitches, but a ton of great free info as well.
James Schramko doesn’t send you 101 emails, but when he does send an email, it’s good. Make sure you get on his list.
For newbies, one great course coming up, (and free) is the Thirty day challenge, correct me if I am wrong, but I think it starts in August?
Travis Sargo of Bum Marketing gives out plenty of free fantastic gems. Take note of his laid back way of selling, without selling. You look forward to getting his e-mails that contain stories and he has a good sense of humor.
There are a stack of other internet marketers that give you some excellent free info as well. But save yourself time and opt out of anyone’s list who doesn’t give you some great value now and then.
(Sorry folks, the grumpy old marketer is at it again. I refused to post this delirious rant after he upset readers last time. But, he kidnapped my kittens and said if I didn’t post this, he would send me their kitty litter and charge me for it. So here goes, once again I apologize for any humor that the grumpy old marketer may not use.)
From the Grumpy Old Marketer: I just watched an Ed Dale video about how to find products on Amazon and thought how you young marketers are lazy and have it easy today. Back in my day I would go to Amazon….No, not the internet Amazon.com, but the real Amazon jungle, the rainforest river one.
I would find hot niches by talking to the natives and exploring the wildlife. It’s real social media when the cannibals have spears, not the fairy stuff like today. And, I once saw a Firefox, but I was only browsing, so I didn’t plug him, as only a few people were interested and he flocked off. (I did see a tiger do an affiliate pounce though, but that is another story)
Anyway, back to the story, I was going through the dense jungle when a deadly Viper snake bit me on the groin several times. Now people were tough back then, so it didn’t worry me, but it got me excited thinking about marketing and finding hot niches.
You didn’t need that Dan Kennedy and John Carlton copywriting magic stuff, to get any one to buy products. The secret was to find a hot product, or if you couldn’t find one, we would make a market up.
Such, as if you were in the Wild West, you would capture a few rattlesnakes, sneak them into a saloon and let the snakes out. When a few people got bitten, you would pull out the miracle cure anti-venom and sell that. However, the anti-venom’s side effect would send you blind.
So the up sell was an anti-anti-venom, which would cure the blindness. But, the patient, I mean the customer, couldn’t use the anti-anti-venom unless they purchased a special needle to administer it. That was the cross sell.
However, the anti-anti-venom would make the customer’s hair fall out for the rest of their life, so they would have to buy an anti- anti-anti-venom dose every month. This would prevent baldness and was the cornerstone for the continuity program. (Hardly anyone cancelled.)
So we didn’t have to use any of this Russell Brunson, Micro continuity stuff, we sold out faster then Frank Kern’s products. That’s how you use time pressure, no pre launch necessary.
Yes sir, it’s all about finding a passionate market and believe me when someone has been bitten by a rattler, the customer is red hot (literally) and willing to buy. They pulled out their credit card faster then a stockbroker and politician discussing their exit plan before the economy goes bad. Oops, too late.
Anyway, I have given enough of my marketing secrets away, time to go before my hip replacement rusts up. Now, where did those kittens go?
I was looking through some internet marketing forums and noticed a few people had trouble finding niche markets. One post suggested this video, (below) was a good start for discovering topics.
I checked it out and saw the video is made by Ed Dale. Who by the way, is a fantastic marketer and very switched on when it comes to the latest marketing gadgets, social media, software, etc. Ed and his team also host the Thirty Day Challenge each year, which is fantastic information for internet marketers. I suggest when it comes around, jump on board quickly, and it’s FREE.
I have also noticed that a lot of internet marketing gurus follow Ed on Twitter. Even some top marketers that are only following a handful of people on Twitter follow Ed. I think that is testimony to the knowledge this guy has, but please don’t tell him that.
Any way, enough about Mr. Dale, to find niche markets, watch how Amazon and Google is used to uncover some ideas.
Brian Tracy’s book, Time Power, covers everything about time management. From goal setting, delegating, to cleaning your desk for maximum use of your time is covered. It truly is, “A Proven System For Getting More Done In Less Time Than You Ever Thought Possible.”
One great bit of advice from the book is, “Once you have determined the obstacles that are holding you back, identify and determine your single largest obstacle. What is the major obstacle that is standing in the way of you completing this task? Resolve to go to work on this one obstacle and concentrate single mindedly on it until it is removed.”
Another point mentioned is, by creating a daily list it may increase your efficiency by 25%. A significant time saver for those who have lots to do and so little time to do it – like most people! Combine listing your tasks with Brian’s, A, B, C, priority and your productivity will sky rocket.
Discipline yourself to stay at it until the job is 100% complete, is great advice, but hard to do. A lot of entrepreneurs, myself included, start a lot of tasks and projects and never finish them. However after reading Time Power, you can’t help but be more motivated to finish tasks and be more selective of projects you take on!
I like Brian’s tips for people who fly a lot, such as booking the correct seat on the airplane so you do not get disturbed as often and organize your brief case so you have everything at hand. If you plan ahead when traveling, work can be very productive.
One interesting point mentioned is, the more you plan the more you program your goal deeper and deeper into your subconscious mind where it takes on a motivational power of its own. Each minute you plan, saves ten minutes in execution.
I have to be honest though; this is not a fair review as I am a big fan of Brian Tracy’s books, CDs, courses, etc. However, if you read this book and apply these principles you will conquer your time management skills more effectively.
Time Power, A Proven System For Getting More Done In Less Time Than You Ever Thought Possible, is a guardian angel for taking control of your time and is available from Amazon.
